Portrait Photographer

A friend of mine recently had family portraits taken. They had been planning this for some time, and for several weeks all I would hear about was the difficulty they were having finding a portrait photographer. They first tried going to the portrait photographer at some surrounding department stores. However, after reviewing some of their work that was on display in the store, they choose to continue their search for a portrait photographer. Their next step was to do an internet search. A simple search for a portrait photographer in their hometown produced several thousand results. Despite an impressive effort at sifting through the search, it turned out to be too much. They came to this conclusion when they found the same picture being advertised on two different portrait photographer websites.

The final leg of their search was done through word of mouth. Their entire family became very aware of any portrait they ever saw and was sure to ask who the portrait photographer was on any shot that they liked. This method, which was eventually the way that they found their portrait photographer, was by far the most demanding and time consuming. Their family met with a number of different portrait photographers to discuss exactly how they wanted their portrait to look. As well, the price variance between each portrait photographer was substantial. Finding the right trade-off between price and quality in their portrait photographer turned out to be a real challenge. I have since seen the portrait that they had done, and I can say that they do look incredible. If it was worth the hassle of finding the right portrait photographer remains under debate.
